Boqueria Market in Barcelona, ​​Spain
If there was a paradise for gourmets, and there would be a market in it, then it would be Boqueria. The unusual architectural style of the market building, the authenticity of the atmosphere of old Catalonia and, of course, just a huge selection of all kinds of products that are brought here every day from all over Spain – this is what makes Mercat de la Boqueria, which is also called Sant Josep, one of the best places for gastronomic shopping in the world.

The history of this trading platform is rooted in the distant 1217, when only meat trading rows were located here. Over the centuries of its existence, Boqueria has turned into a huge (2583 m²) shopping complex, decorated in an original style, on the multi-tiered counters of which all kinds of fruits, berries and vegetables, spices and herbs, meat, fish and seafood of all kinds and forms are effectively displayed. Here you can find really everything – from cereals and fruit slices to rare spices that can puzzle even the most sophisticated and advanced chefs.

Special attention should be paid to the delicious rows – the freshest forest berries, black truffles, a large selection of live snails, rare sea delicacies and much more attract and tempt with one look.

There are many cozy small cafes and restaurants on the market where you can have a tasty snack, drink coffee, tea or freshly squeezed juice. And since 2003, you can attend master classes at the gastronomic school, where adults and children will be taught the intricacies of cooking Spanish and Mediterranean dishes, and will tell about old recipes and culinary secrets.

One of the largest fish markets in the world is located in Tokyo, Japan. The Tsukiji market is divided into two zones – the internal, in which wholesale trading takes place, and the external, where retail trade in fish and seafood is fast.

Here you can find absolutely any seafood – from the cheapest seaweed to delicious caviar and expensive varieties of fish. All work processes are provided by a really impressive number of staff – up to 65,000 people work here daily. The Tsukiji market opens very early, the peak of sales falls from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., by 11:00 a.m. most of the outlets and shops close, and at 13:00 the fish market completely stops its work. Tourists can watch the fish auction from a special platform on any day from 5:00 to 6:15 in the morning.

There are many fish restaurants and small cafes on the territory of Tsukiji, all of them offer visitors a large selection of freshly prepared sushi, delicious dishes of fish and seafood prepared in different ways.
